is

HIRING VOLUNTEER/PAID ON THE CALL

FIREFIGHTERS!

Help people in need, become a valued member of the community, be part

of something bigger than yourself, become…. A FIREFIGHTER!

All citizens who are accepted into our training program will be taught how to fight fires, rescue entrapped victims, and provide emergency medical care to those in need.

Onoway Regional Fire Services protects ten municipalities just North West of Edmonton. ORFS is currently accepting applications from City of Edmonton & Area Residents for paid on call firefighter positions.

Your safety is number one, so at Onoway Regional Fire, so you will participate in our fully certified NFPA 1001 Professional Firefighter training program. This program is available free-of-charge to individuals who reside within 30km of either Onoway or Alberta Beach. If you have already completed at least your NFPA 1001 Level I program at another institution, you may be found to be already eligible for a POC position.

After the initial training local and Non-local POCs (Paid on Call Firefighters) will

spend only one day (24hrs) per week living on station responding to all types of emergency calls. Local residents may instead pick weekday, weeknight or weekend on-call commitments from home rather than staying on station.

Local residents will NOT be required to remit payment for firefighter training however they will be charged for the full cost of the program if unable to commit to their pre-determined 24-hour shift.

Non-Local residents (who live over 30km from Onoway or Alberta Beach) will be required to take part in training if not already trained and pay a subsidized fee for training. Click the Enrollment window for instructions on how to enroll in these programs. Pricing can be found in the "Make a Payment" section in your profile.

Training takes place on Weekends (Friday Evening from 6-10, Saturday and Sunday from 9-5)

Our next NFPA 1001 Level I program starts October 15, 2020 at 6 pm.

This course will be held at our Alberta Beach Fire Station. (4923 46a Ave, Alberta Beach, Ab)
